Edited 15 years agoThe second CD is not too bad, but it's just a copy of an earlier-released Anjunabeats CD.
However, the first CD is rubbish; I've been using it as a coaster for the past year or so. The track selection is ok, it's just that the mixing and flow are exceedingly poor. Strangis really needs to work on his phrasing and learn how to maintain continuity in a mix.
If nothing else, the progression from tracks 5 to 9 proves this.
"Control Freak" is played so early into the CD; way too early. It and "Direct Dizko" are the two hardest tracks on the CD and should hence be played in the latter half, after the set has built momentum.
However, there is merit in starting hard and finishing earlier, but Strangis doesn't do this; he varies wildly all over the place. After "Control Freak", he goes melodic and uplifting with "Voices From The Inside", then decides to go hard again with "Direct Dizko".
There's no vibe or coherency, it's just a selection of tracks thrown together. Coupled with the poor mixing, CD 1 was a real let down overall, and seeing as CD 2 was just a copy of Anjunabeats, overall I felt cheated after buying this release; what an absolute waste of money.

Edited 18 years agoDisc 2 of this release is just a repackaging of Anjuna Beats vol 4 so it can be ignored. Disc 1 is where it's at for 2 reasons: firstly it is a great mix with a nice variety of tunes. From the deeper progressive style of Thomas Penton, to the uplifting trance of Signum and Arksun and the more tech-trance styles of Sander van Doorn Steve Strangis does a great job of combining some of the hits of the moment and gives us a great mix. Secondly it's not ever day that a young local talent from Melbourne gets his name on a nation-wide release under the Godskitchen brand! This is a great opportunity to the local scene and get your hands on some great music at the same time.
