Notes
This pressing (mistakenly?) uses the "ABC Dunhill" moniker on the record labels instead of "ABC Records" like most early pressings.
This is an AB-1006 press without the Kendun mentioning in the deadwax making it a second press although otherwise identical to the first.
The back cover also lacks the "AA-1006" catalog number above the "ABC Records" label at the bottom, unlike other later pressings, indicating this as part of the second press round.
Deadwax information seems identical to other early pressings, but the Union Jack symbol is an indicator for this specific one.

Edited one year agoNo idea why the listing note states the lack of AA catalog number on the back cover indicates this is a 2nd pressing. I have no catalog # on the back cover of my 1st Pitman or this one but both are AB catalog spines, labels and deadwax. And what version has Kendun in the deadwax? I haven't read about any Kenduns for Aja. Katy Lied, yes. But not Aja.
My understanding is the AB plates in the deadwax and the AB covers are the first pressings. Then the AA covers with the AAB in the deadwax (B scratched out) are the second pressings of the original metal. This listing is AB all around with the only anomaly being the Dunhill labels....
In any event, this pressing sounds excellent. I have variant 4 with the Union Jack and the giant C and D stamped in the deadwax with the AB 1006 RE2 hand etched (similar to my Pitman).

Edited one year agoThis pressing is crisp and clear. Full dynamic range. Likely not the top of all pressings but for a second pressing, this does not disappoint. Quiet groove floor and spins flat and true. I may invest in the 2023 UHQR depending on reviews and pricing. But for now, I’m very pleased with the warmth and naturalness of this cut.
