An excellent collection of remixes taken from the various "Jilted Generation" singles and well sequenced. Particularly nice is Liam H's comments in the inlay booklet regarding each remix, detailing what he likes about them, as well as his remarks on his own two remixes of "Poison" which close off the album.
Only thing really missing here - and what would have made a nice album closer - is the 10-minute Secret Knowledge Remix of "Speedway (Theme from Fastlane)" found on the U.S. Voodoo People EP.
There's plenty of room for it on the disc, but it's omission is only a minor gripe. -
Edited 3 years agoI seeing this in HMV back in the day and was like holy shit the cover is red. lol
I had all the tracks on the singles but I needed it because the cover was red. This was my first step into collecting music. Kinda glad I got it because it plays like a grittier version of jilted generation. -
Edited 18 years agoThis is an excellent yet hard-to-find piece of work, comprising some of the most impressive remixes and reinterpretations of The Prodigy's material from the 'Music From The Jilted Generation' album. Liam Howlett's comprehensive stripping down and reworking of 'Poison' (Rat Poison on the tracklisting) is particularly impressive, as is 'Goa' (The Heat The Energy Part 2), with its subtle background changes that transform the original version into a driving acid track, and Jonny L's trance-like transformation of 'One Love'. There are only nine tracks on this album, but quality certainly takes precedence over quantity here. Indeed, the fact that it is not widely available should not act as a deterrent for anyone seeking to discover the additional dimensions to The Prodigy's material, which are commonplace on this album.
