Just discovered it. Great album. Don’t know why I can’t stop thinking about Daft Punk. Seems Space were at least an “inspiration” for Daft Punk’s image and style…

Two friends from Senegal told me Magic Fly was used to introduce young students in their classrooms in every public school of that african country. The guys have to form a queue and walking with dance moves, entering for the first hour lesson..

Much like lovemacheen, saw this in a thrift store for $1.00 and said, this looks cool. The hit "magic fly" is pretty classy 70s synth stuff that has undoubtedly influenced a generation of french synth heads, but for my money "Carry on, Turn Me On" is the gem. The opening has been sampled by Luke Vibert (took me years to figure that one out) and probably others, but its a disco boogie gem replete with vocals that'd make Diana Ross blush.

This is a masterpiece of the short lived Space Disco music scene (a variation of Hi-NRG Disco
and part of 70s Eurodisco) and widely considered to be their best work..

This french electronic music band was founded in 1977 by Didier Marouani (Pioneer of the electronic
music genre, also known as Ecama) and had 2 other , Roland Romanelli and Jannick Top.

The song "Magic Fly" became number one in the world (in record sales, as well as radio and club parades).
Together with Cerrone's "Supernature", it was the startsong of a new music genre called "Space Disco"

A nice thing to know is that "Magic Fly" was composed in the same appartment than "Oxygène"
from Jean Michel Jarre in 1976. Being good friends at the time Didier took over his appartment when JM left,
and created this masterpiece on a Korg Syth, an Arp Odysse and later on a Prophet 5 synth.

Some of the songs on this LP where covered. The Main hit "Magic Fly" in 2003 by the Belgian dance project
Minimalistix, and "Carry On, Turn Me On" also in 2003 by Kienzle & Iberle's "Touch Me".

The French Foreign Trade Minister André Rossi awarded Didier many golden records for having achieved one
of the most important successes within the French record industry..

They finally got their huge and deserved succes in the eastern countries, where they are seen as real legends.

If you don't have this one yet, just get it!
