Take all of your spiked gauntlets, corpse paint, pentagrams and inverted crosses and throw them out the window. Actually, don't litter. Just throw all of that shit in the trash. Trust me. After Diadem of 12 Stars, you'll have a new outlook on black metal. I know I do. If you're expecting an onslaught of blast beats, frantic guitars and Satanic screams, sorry, you'll be receiving none of that. What we have here is a beautiful collection of long, soaring, atmospheric songs. In fact, calling them songs is kind of a disservice to the music. Perhaps we should call them epics. Odysseys. Beautiful ethereal compositions. You get what I'm saying. This music is so powerfully awe inspiring, its damn near spiritual. Wolves In The Throne Room do Black Metal on their own ...and its incredible.
