Wenn man bedenkt, daß dieser Mann vor wenigen Jahren noch in einer Boy-Band gesungen hat, ist dieses Debüt gleich noch mal höher zu bewerten. Robbie Williams ist erwachsener geworden, das vorweg: Dieser Mann hat es drauf. Er schreibt zuckersüße, hochkarätige, einfach nur schöne Popsongs und "Millennium" ist sowieso der Popsong des Jahres 1998. Aber nicht nur diese sind vorhanden, denn mit "Karma killer" und "Man machine" sind genausogut Rocksongs vertreten, die natürlich eine Prise Pop innehaben. Besonders "Karma killer" könnte mit seiner orchestralen Untermalung durch das London Session Orchestra den Grundstein für eine Rockoper bilden. Ohne das Orchester wäre diese Platte nur halb so viel wert, da unter der Leitung von Gavin Wright die meisten Songs nicht den besonderen Touch hätten. Durch all dieses ist diese Platte auch für Ohren gedacht, die sonst nur auf härteres Material stehen. Nicht zu Unrecht ist dieses Album in den meisten Rockmagazinen unter den persönlichen besten Alben des Jahres 1998 erschienen. Im übrigen dürfte dieses Debüt mit seinen Hit-Singles "Strong", "No regrets", "Millennium", "She´s the one" und "Man machine" schwer zu übertreffen sein. Und selbst bei mir hätte sie die Höchstpunktzahl erreicht, wenn nicht der aus zwei Titeln bestehende Hidden-Track wäre, der das Gesamtbild dieses Albums entzwei brechen läßt. Schade, aber das ist unverzeihlich.
