Mine sounds great. I wonder if an analog master was even made? It was 1994. Who cares? People are too hung up on that.
-
I have not listened to this in years. Upon listening, I was reminded of my disappointment, as others have mentioned below. The vinyl is cut well, nice separation and sound stage. However, the digital master that was used causes the sound to suffer. It's hot and sibilant at times, mainly with the vocals. Crash, RTT, and the previous EP are all superior in sound. Maybe they can redo this, although it's kind of a joke to do it, then redo and charge the same fans again.
-
Like others mentioned, check out the bottom of the notes section. CUT from a digital file. If you’re ok with that just buy the CD or stream the album online. Sounds ok but it’s not all analogue. Music companies are purposely misleading people on their hype stickers who don’t understand that “mastering” and “cutting” are different things.

I disagree with many of the comments here. From the moment I put this on my turntable I was impressed by the quality and clarity. It is DMB like I'd never heard before. Because this is a higher-end pressing it's possible that it requires a better cartridge to playback without sibilance -- a complaint others have made here. With a decent playback system this album sounds outstanding.
-
The most important part to any record is how it sounds and this DMB release sounds just awful. Too much high end sizzle and distorted sibilance on the vocals. This was originally an excellent recording when it was first released in the 90's but this abysmal remaster ssssslipped through quality control. What a shame too because the packaging is beautifully done.
Saddly I suggest you this one up and wait for a better release. -
Do not buy this Issue. You will lost money just to have a fetish. If you have the CD, enjoy it, even sounds better,

Record was flat and quiet so that's nice. As far as the sound quality, it isn't a material improvement over the cd. It's disappointing considering that RTT and Crash were very well done. Unless you are just into holding 12" of vinyl in your hand, there really is no reason to get this as a record. I can say that I never listen to it. Just play the CD and it's the same experience.
