They are FINALLY remixing this album, and I am expecting it will sound better on vinyl after all the lousy pressings we have gotten in the past. I can't believe we are being listened to. That's part of why I love MCR. Check the band's website. The remix was announced today.

did anyone else notice how terrible the artwork looks, its so pixely and grainy lol. ive had this record for 6 years now and im only just now seeing the pixels lol

This is a very good album. Ghost of You is just an absolutely great song.
That being said, this pressing does not sound very good on my modest system. At low volumes it is kind of lifeless. If you turn it up, it just sounds distorted and ragged. Over powering bass with no highs.
Project X2 with Sumiko Moonstone. Yamaha pre-amp and amp playing through B&W 703 speakers. -
Inner groove distortion is absolutely horrendous, shout out the idiots at Reprise that gave this the "ok 👍" to release

Edited 7 months agoFrom a material perspective, this album is lacking in nothing, so it’s best to say you must own it in at least one format. Three Cheers is a bona fide metal/punk/opera masterpiece.
As for mixing of this pressing… not so great. MCR songs were always kind of compressed anyways, so I don’t think too much of it. If you’re a really picky audiophile, though, it’s probably be best to wait until there’s a remaster in the future. -
my copy had a huge smudge of i assume grease? on both sides, and wouldn’t come off no matter what i tried. side a sounded alright, but side b was skipping, super distorted, and popping. i went to put it back in the sleeve and noticed the same grease? all in that too.
unfortunately the worst record in of quality i’ve got so far. returning it. hope they remaster it one day and repress it -
Solid album with zero lulls. The popular songs are good but the rest of the album is filled out with material that is arguably just as good.
-
Definitely sounds compressed, but I don't really need a 2lp remaster for this. I kinda like the "bad" quality lol makes it sound grimier. I don't think theres much complexity here to reveal with a remastered version. Just get it and enjoy it, but a 2lp expanded/remastered set will probably come in 2024.
-
This thing really needs a quality remaster. I think the music deserves better treatment. By the time we reach “the ghost of you”, the bass is completely sucked out.
-
can we get a remaster and re-release especially for LP (and maybe cassette?) by someone who knows what they're doing, please
this album, even on CDs, has NEVER sounded all that great.
