I was not very familiar with Nash's solo work but heard "Better Days" and picked up an old copy of this LP — what a pleasant surprise. Something about it — feels like a very genuine, honest piece of work, bit of a timeless sound about it and based on some of the scores here, apparently still underrated. Worth a listen!

For those of you who are exploring the CSN solo records you have come to the right place, Songs For Beginners is arguably the best of the CSN trio. Lyrically brilliant with at least a few songs, Wounded Bird, Better Days and Used to be a King that will leave you bewildered as to how they escape radio play and the notice of most - including me, who had no idea these songs or record even existed until a few months ago. Used to Be a King is now one of my favorite songs of all time - Imagine a beautifully written song with Nash singing his heart out, David Crosby on electric guitar, Phil Lesh on bass, Jerry Garcia playing INCREDIBLE soaring riffs on pedal steel - YESSS!!! I am not making that up - it’s literally a super group just CRUSHING it! Did I forget to mention the early pressing I have is KILLER, with dynamics and a lack of compression that is rare on ANY record. Give it a shot and let me know what you think. Cheers!
