Edited 5 months agoThis Bmg was just reissued, end of 2024. 4050538906424. Curious to see where it was pressed and if its any better. My copies of the first two pressed at United both needed repeated vacuum cleanings. Sounds decent enough. RIP Paul and Clive.

Edited 3 years agoI own this release and have a first US pressing. This sounds OK in comparison. To my ears, it sounds like the percussion is a bit compressed (especially the cymbals). It also sounds like there was alot of reverb added to Paul's voice, and kind of pushed back in the mix.
If it's spinning in the background, not a big deal. But if I'm paying more attention, I'll spin my first US pressing. Try turning this one up a bit, it makes a difference.
Regardless, every metal fan should have some copy of this in their collection though, that's for sure. If for nothing else, the artwork! -
This pressing of this album is terrible. Very tinny and staticky sound. This is probably one of the worst sounding records in my entire collection

So maybe there are 2 different pressings out there with the same barcode.. Just bought this reissue because my original copy does not have the album cover or art. This reissue is very good. Highs have been lowered but instruments are dynamic and separated. I can hear Steve's finger attack on the bass at 5Khz. Both guitars are clear and separated. Kick is pronounced and thumping without being boomy Can it be better? Yes. But I've heard a lot worse original and reissues from other bands. BTW... My runout numbers are way different although I have the same barcode (Matrix / Runout (A-side): SAT 411250-1-A 5-100102; Matrix / Runout (B-side): SAT 411250-1-B 5-100103). Buy this reissue and enjoy the beauty that was pre-Bruce Maiden!

I don’t understand the comments that speak ill of this pressing, Maiden never sounded so good!! Well defined sound, with great dynamic range, very clear bass... and it is this same edition.
The cover art and printing very well cared for and of great quality as well.
100% recommended if you’re looking for a good pressing of this killer album ;) -
Like they said below... this sounds flat, no dynamics, no punch. No insert or printed inner sleeve. Overall not much effort or care seemingly put into this reissue.

Edited one year agoI was hesitant to spend the money on a reissue, and gotta say the copy I received is a huge disappointment, sounds extremely flat ! Almost like they are trying to simulate the warm feeling of a vintage record , but it isn’t working, they went too far with cutting the highs ... It has no life and it’s a brand new record

First off, I will say that packaging is horrible, I struggled to get the record out of its jacket because it was smudged in there. Second thing, it sounds bad. Like REALLY BAD. It sounds horribly compressed and is way to heavy on the bass, which brings me to my last point, the bass is so heavy that it makes the record skip. A LOT. I cleaned it multiple times and it got those parts where it just would make the stylus jump halfway across the song. This is a stellar album in Maidens discography and my favorite album by them in fact. It does not deserve to be ridiculed like this. AVOID THIS PRESSING AT ALL COSTS!
