Edited 28 days agoYep, this has to be the optimum version.
AAA - Mastered at The Mastering Lab by Doug Sax, 2Lp’s to attain the dynamic range and pressed at QRP so……. Well, it can’t get much better.
My only criticism if I were forced to find scope for a subjective improvement would be that I found some Mid’s sacrificed at times for enhanced Highs. But……. That may well be an improvement ‘overall’ so…..
It’s superb, VERY quiet, very few surface noise and barely any ‘Features’ lol.
‘Coming Back To Life’ is one of my favourite PF tracks and it sounds superb.
You won’t be disappointed by this.

This is the version to get. Excellent pressing and sound quality. Plus, it's a double LP so none of the songs have been shorted (like they were on the original single LP release in 94).
The only negative (if any) is there are no lyrics included, just a LOT of different shots of the statues from the cover.
Personally, this is the album that helped me discover Pink Floyd so it's a personal favorite. Marooned and High Hopes are two of my favorite Pink Floyd songs. -
Brilliant Pink Floyd album and easily in my top 5 favorite studio releases of theirs. Sound quality is superb, the gatefold and record sleeves are very high quality as is the recording of this amazing album. Has a few light pop/ticks but doesn’t take away from the fantastic dynamics this pressing has. If you’re looking for a great copy of this vinyl record, look no further.

Very solid press. Full sound and deep. I mean, it’s Pink Floyd playing Pink Floyd songs with killer mastering. It may not be an uncomparable set of songs like their unparalleled 70’s output but it’s still a nice set of hooks and choruses and masterful musicianship.

This is a AAA cut where the later pressing is remastered from digital files from analog tapes so this is definitely the keeper !!!!!!!!
-
Beautiful pressing in quality heavyweight gatefold. I do have one complaint- there is no insert/ lyric sheet/ ANY info included with this album. Literally 8 different pics of the statue heads, that's it. Like where is the info about the actual music/recording/credits etc??

This is one of the most beautiful pressings I own, of any album. Nice heavy vinyl with pristine sound quality and the packaging is amazing, with full color, glossy inner sleeves for each record and high gloss gatefold cover on heavy stock. It's pricy compared to a lot of albums out there but just know that they really did justice to this amazing album in every way.
Great times we are living in, these days. This is one of many albums from my youth that I never thought I would see re-pressed or be able to afford and yet, sure enough, there it is on my shelf along with dozens of 90's albums that I only had on CD growing up (before I knew better ;)).
Anyway, if you're considering grabbing this one and are put off by the price, don't be. It's worth every penny. -
Edited 10 years agoYes, confirmed both 2014 US and EU reissues come from the Doug Sax remaster @ The Mastering Lab. Matrix numbers are obviously different since they are different pressings. Deluxe Box is only one version. Yes, obviously there is a mistake in the sticker. The following is wrong: "Full-length tracks cut in 2014 from original analogue masters". It can't be because the original masters were not used, that is the whole point of remastering right? Record company marketing people who design these stickers do not necessarily know technicalities. Below the barcode it is confirmed that this is a remaster with the proper (P) and (C) labeling: "This remaster ℗ & © 2014 Pink FLoyd (1987) Ltd. under exclusive license to Parlophone Records Ltd..."

Amazing sound on this release, however, my particular copy had bad non-fill issues throughout track A1. Couldn't listen beyond the first song so these records are being returned for replacement. Anyone else have similar problems with their pressing?
-
Can anyone confirm that EU version is mastered at Mastering Lab by Doug Sax?
I can see that Matrix number are different from US to EU release.
Only have EU edition and it is cheaper then US. Back in 1994. also 2 versions UK and US. UK version have reputation of being better.
And how about Deluxe Box? Only one version or also two?
