Edited 13 years agoThe story of my journey with this track. Perhaps the best techno track all time for me.
In 1993 I picked up World techno tribe (also known as The Universal Compilation. Classic compilation. Check it) on cassette. It was the first time I heard Dave Angel, Sven Vath, Resistance D and other key artists I followed I can track back to that comp (see my comment there). One artist also I had not heard of was Laurent Garnier. His Virtual Breakdown track was featured. I very much liked that track but surprisingly due to pre-Internet and not really knowing the best record stores I didn't see his name on anything till 1998 when I came across his Early Works double cd and scooped it up in heartbeat as it looked like it had some deeper ambient(Alaska) and techno tracks. On their was Acid Eiffel. This was everything I was looking for in electronic music in one track. Every mood wrapped up in one 13 minute track. There were times when I would play Acid Eiffel for hours on end. That double cd with many good tracks and Acid Eiffel leading the way immediately put Laurent Garmier on my list of favorite artists.
In 2000 during his Unreasonable Behavior tour I attended and was floored to hear Acid Eiffel live concluding a brief but devoted love affair with this track. Soon after I got this vinyl and 13 years since I first heard it it will still go down as one of the best tracks of all time for me.
Not to be overlooked is the Ludovic and Shazz contributions. This little EP has something for everyone.
