    I picked this up used from my local record store for $18USD (complete with booklet, the records are in great shape but outer box is in fair-poor condition).

    I wanted to ask owners whether your LP7 (The Chicago Independents) was mislabeled (side A are the side B tracks for me). Let me know!

        Anyone able to comment on the sound quality of this? Seems a lot of the records have 25-30 minutes pressed on each side which usually makes it sound below average and stops the bass coming through

          This is one of the most satisfying purchases I've made in a long time. I managed to find a lonely copy at a second hand shop in Leipzig for a great price and condition. No skips and barely any pops or surface noise. I'm so happy I ended up asking the owner about it to have a listen. It was sitting on top of a glass display full of collector's items with much higher price tags so I didn't bother to look much at first, not noticing it was right above where I was looking.

          It was only when I was about to leave that I thought, screw it, I wonder what else is there...

          One funny thing about the records is that the typeface used on the labels has the peculiar characteristic of making me think someone put something in my drink. I noticed something odd out of the corner of my eye and when I looked at the label, it took me about 20 seconds of intense confusion only to realize the letters distort as the record spins - what a trip!

          Two things though, if I were to nitpick: I need to push the gain to the max and get creative with the EQ just to bring the levels above 0dB, which isn't too bad. The Cerrone remix on the other hand... I feel it would have been one of the standout tracks from the compilation if it wasn't for the male vocal samples chopped about. It was really awkward to listen to, what a pity...

          Apart from those small things, this compilation is wonderful, highly recommended.

              ittedly, this precious 12x12" box does not come all too cheap, but if you'd want to find every 12" single of the timeless tracks that are bundled on this one, you'd be spending a whole lot more time and dough for sure.
              From jack avant la lettre to future jack, all in one box. A finger licking, extensive, representative overview of chicago house history, that's what this is.

                An absolutely brilliant box set here,everything you need to listen too to really find out about house.Twelve vinyls of all the best jackin,deep,cheesy house and also two vinyls worth of tracks that built house.Underground disco anthems,real movers and shakers for gettin down on the dance floor.If you can get your hands on this grab it as with this box set alone you could get 2 - 3 brilliant sets out of it!!!
