One of the worst recent pressings. Besides being dirty the noise and high-end crackle overrides the overall presentation - the analog vibe of 1975 just doesn't work on Vinyl. A classic case of overcooking the levels. Also total waste of the run out...I get this eliminates sibilance but not at the expense of the whole album. Play Lorde after and wow what a difference. Crisp, deep and expansive.

Dead quiet pressing! Such a great album that comes to life here. The packaging is beautiful and I love the lyrics printed on the inner sleeve.

Happy to have this version, perfect sounding with minor pops but i'd put that down to the clear pressing. 10 years old!

i had the US clear pressing at one point, and now have this polydor EU pressing and the australian white vinyl. this doesn't sound amazing but it's definitely the best one. the original US pressing sounds a bit glassy while the australian one is a bit harsh on top. you could argue that the EU pressing is more veiled in the midbass but everything is tidier overall.

EDIT: this remains the best pressing of the standalone album, but if you're really a fan and have a good hi-fi, get the 10th anniversary 4LP. the new lacquer cut of the original album is a vast improvement on the original. sure, it's $70, but the standalone record is already $30-35 now and the 4LP has the EPs too.

listening setup: rega p6, ortofon mc cadenza bronze cartridge, stein music 'the perfect interface' carbon mat, liberty b2b-1 preamp, hegel h95 integrated amp, elac debut b5 speakers

Not sure what others are getting. My copy is almost dead silent. Seems like it may be a touch compressed/flat or something, but I'm impressed. My "fogged" clear also has a bit of black swirl in the pressing. Not sure if its intentional, but gives it a very unique look.

This pressing could sound better, but it’s by no means terrible, at least sides A,B,C. There is some static, but you generally can’t hear it. There is a circular pop at the end of Chocolate, pretty bad static on 12. Almost the entirety of side D is bad, pops right at the start, noisy on She Way Out, unbearable on Menswear.

It’s not particularly dynamic, but some songs (Robbers) sound very very good.

Packaging is nice, heavy and well made.

Mild warping, mild/medium surface noise and generally sounds pretty muddy. About the usual for a 1975 press. Don't be afraid to buy it for your collection if you're a fan, its certainly playable but don't expect it to sound great.

One big difference between the European Version and the United States Version is that the American vinyl is more "Crystal Clear" whilst the European vinyl is more "Fogged Clear".

This is an amazing album. Every song is a hit. Love the nonchalant vibe and Matty Healy's sort of "throw-away" vocals. Love the distinct character of each track, makes it an interesting listen. Love the combo of the dancey music and faintly nihilistic lyrics. I feel like The 1975 has pretty much nailed the voice of this generation with this album!

Anyone else's copy riddled with surface noise? I cleaned it well right before playing and I've made sure my stylus is dust free and well aligned, yet the problem persists. Fortunately the sound isn't too distorted and the album is dynamic for the most part, but there are moments when the noise comes out of nowhere for several seconds at a time and it gets pretty ridiculous, which kind of ruins the experience. Such a shame about the pressing quality cause this is a pretty great album. I hope it's only my copy so I can get a new one.
