Just came across this recording again and I deeply hope that FFD didn't give up (for whatever reason). Keep on reggaeing, mates!

This album is just perfection from start to finish. I have to be honest, i have slept on these guys far too long when one day i decided to dig up som reggae. Started with "Based on a true story" that was fantastic. "Boondigga.." was quite different that ventured further into the electronic world, still suberb album though. However, Blackbird takes Fat Freddy back to where BOATS left of. Opening with the fantastic title-cut groove that takes you straight into the dubby deep realms of FFD. From there on, each track never loses your mind for one single second. How this band brings in influences from Jazz, Afro-beat, RnB and House into the centre-core that is Dub and Reggae is nothing more than soul-gripping. They are indeed a live-band. Most of these tracks never stop surprises you on first listen. You think the song is over, but it is not. FFD is way different level music.. Life changing for a few. But to me, critical as i am, it paved a new path to what ways music can transpire too.
With out of doubt the best Album of 2013. -
