Reviews

dada was one of those early 90's bands that sounded promising but was quickly rendered obsolete in the grunge avalanche of 1991-1995. (Two not completely dissimilar bands that come to mind are School of Fish and Toad the Wet Sprocket, who suffered similar fates) Their debut remains a fine, jangly, somewhat noirish album. Of particular note is the single Dizz-Knee Land (Disney refused to let them use their name), and the dark, fatalistic, rockabilly-goes-heavy romp "Here Today, Gone Tomorrow", which recalls the Gun Club to a degree. Usually, you can find this title used for about 99 cents, and while it is not exactly a lost masterpiece, it is one of the better things you can spend 99 cents on. One of those albums that make you wonder what rock music would have sounded like if grunge had never happened.
