the new mix is a scratch in the ears. Trumpets too high, bad masterig, completely wrong reverbs....
The balance of the original stereo master tapes was another story. Too bad. -
awful remixing. Where the hell are gone the original STEREO tapes used by Varese? This new mix has a completely wrong balance!!!

Thoughts About The Music Itself: Great
This is such a blast from the past! And it is astonishing how well it holds up. Sure, it still got that certain vintage sound but at the same time also sounds timeless and often reminds you a bit of Fantasy videogame music. This special remastered 2012 re-release even packs a lot of bonus material into the release. You got the complete movie score, extra compositions and even the original 1982 soundtrack arrangement. A real treasure that belongs into everyones movie score collection! I think it is also better than the Conan The Destroyer score even if just by a little.

Mastering In General: Very Good
When I was hearing the first track, I was fearing for the worst. But luckily it seems like the noise on the beginning of track 1 is by design and intentional. After this I was actually blown away by how good this sounds. These are 1982 recordings? Holy... Whoever mastered this, knew what he was doing. Yes, there is some low noise in more silent segments and perhaps a little pop here and there but keep in mind its from 1982. Back then a CD was a unknown term. It sounds really good for what it is.
Final Verdict Audiophidelity: 8.5/10
How Enjoyable The Music Is In General: 9/10 -
