Solar Quest – Orgship

I have two things to say about this album…
1) My wife and I listened to this album on repeat through our sleep almost every night for a decade

And

2) both of our children were born with this album playing.

That is all

There was only one song on this CD that moved me deeply and it was the last song "Flying Spirals". Awaken Kundalini is growing on me. Save the whale is sweet. For the one song "Flying Spirals" I will add this to my collection.

Found this rare cd gem last year and have to say along with early Biosphere this is a 90s ambient gem. Not a wasted track and all the music has variety without sounding cliche to the era released. Im a sucker for Roland synths and this cd has tons of Juno as well as real bass guitar, smooth rhythms and your favorite blips & bleeps to keep your interest. Needs to be re-released and too good to be out of print!

Save The Whale is a stand out on a great album,

Solar Quest's "Orgship" is one of those desert island discs that you grab when all that matters to you is your relaxation and you're peacefullness. The ease and depth of "Belle of Atlantis" nicely brings you to that place. Imagine yourself laying in a boat (with this kind of depth it would have to be an ocean), you are looking towards the heavens and you are floating about to it's dream like flowing synth that sounds as if it's brushing the skies while the percussion rings out like shooting stars. Adding elements like thunder, soft waves, wonderful analog percussion and pads, you quickly see why this is one the of best island discs off all time. Then to go on saying this isn't even my favorite song on the disk tells you what a classic this album is. "Save the Whale" nearly brings me to tears everytime i hear the first 20 seconds and to know what is about to come in the next 8 minutes. It's one of the best tracks i have ever heard and I'm not over-exagerating. The rest of the album has it's moments but whenever I put on this cd i end up playing "Save the Whale" for hours and i never get to appeciate the other songs. I guess that tells you in a nutshell how much i love this track. Thank you George Saunders!

This is definitely one of the best ambient techno albums, side by side with Biosphere's "Substrata", FSOL "Lifeforms", Yagya's "Rhythm of Snow" and Global Communications' "76:14". Organic, freeflowing as possible, calm and dreamy, it carries a listener through endless worlds of solar soundscapes. Highly recommended!

An unbelievable ambient album with an astonshing opener and an even more overwhelming ending. A beauty that floats between acid, ambient, dub and goa. Spherical, dreamlike and mesmerizing.
