I love this album and think its pairs nicely with M.I.A.'s likeminded MAYA LP released five years later later. Both albums came in the wake of huge crossover success (thanks to "One More Time" and "Paper Planes", respectively) and mainstream visibility. And what its authors do? Make the most aggressive, anti-pop music to dance to! Both albums are the funkiest aural middle fingers ever released, if you ask me. lol.

I think it was a wrong decision to release this as an album. The material is pretty repetitive and club oriented. If they had released this on like 4 eps as a series for djs, it would have been perceived differently. For example steam machine or brainwasher dont really make sense on an album, but they will destroy a dancefloor.

Although Human after all isn't as good as their other albums it is still worth a listen. The title track, robot rock and television rules the nation are highlights but overall the album is let down by tracks like steam machine and prime time of your life.
Overall OK album 6/10 -
The best Daft Punk album for me. I generally love these outsider albums. Claustrophobic, mechanical, dark and their best record yet.

I just bought vinyl copy with the Parlophone logo in the back. I don't think this version has been added yet. But I don't know when it's been released.

A massive drop in quality after Discovery. Only 3 of the tracks are listenable to. The rest of the tracks are utterly terrible and have no interesting musical ideas whatsoever. Hopefully Daft Punk realized this was an experimental album and will be better with Random Access Memories

Edited 12 years agoThere is some validity to the criticism that this was rushed and there isn't enough quality on it. Around 40% of the album is barely above average in of quality. It could have been better. Apparently it was recorded in only a few weeks, and it shows. You should probably skip this and go for Alive 2007. It makes this album redundant and it's an extremely polished release.
