Edited one year agoThis album, its production, its pressing are all insane!!! Tom Araya is such a beast on this one. What strucks me the most on this recording is the sound of the drums. Until now, Surfer Rosa was for me the best drum sound ever recorded on an album (Steve Albini), but South of Heaven is as good. When Rick Rubin heard Dave Lombardo playing, I guess he was so thrilled that he pushed himself to record him the best way he could. What Dave does on here is really impressive. "Live Undead" and "Ghost of War" are a good showcase.

This pressing sounds awesome! Full, punchy and dynamic. Also greats soundstage. The louder you play it, the better it sounds!
My system:
Thorens TD280MK2
Ortofon OMB30
Project Tube Box s2
Yamaha R-800A
Wharfedale Aura 2

Please message me if you want to sell yours! -
Absolutely stunning pressing of one of the best thrash metal albums ever. Stellar performance, brilliant production.

What a beast this album is I can only compare to the first cd pressing but on vinyl it sounds like Dave Lombardo is in my house

Edited 4 years agoNo comments about the sound quality of this? Personally I think it sounds amazing! Even better than my split 45rpm MFN pressings of Hell Awaits and Show No Mercy. I doubt the original US vinyl release sounds better, probably the same master.

I have one without the stickers. Its comes with a printed inner sleeve. It has the same run-out codes but there is a "X" added on the A side and two "XX" on the B side. So basically i have this:
Barcode (Text): 0 7599-24203-1 0
Matrix / Runout (Side 1): R / S Alsdorf 924203-1-A2x
Matrix / Runout (Side 2): R / S Alsdorf 924203-1-B2xx
Rights Society: GEMA/BIEM
Label Code: LC 7266
Other (Distribution Code): : WE 381
Can anyone tell me more about this one, is it limited or something else? -
