Another classic cut from Korn's back catalogue, 'Here To Stay' was the debut single from their 5th studio album 'Untouchables'. With a tighter sound and brutal riffs, Jon Davis & Co manage to keep the ball rolling in their mainstream success. Amping up the grit made famous from their previous album 'Follow The Leader' the group keep that mix of funk and drudge going by sounding like they are slowly digging upward after being buried alive.
This format of the single also features two remixes. The first is an iconic version by T-Ray, a popular choice for those in the alt. scene at the time this mix strips back all the guitars and transforms 'Here To Stay' into a disco funk nightmare. Accompanied by an infectious hip-hop beat and Davis' iconic vocals this is one of the few reworks from Korn's career that really hits the nail on the head (not as much to sur the original but a worthy effort none the less). Last is a very odd choice, but considering the circles Korn were now in not unexpected. Electronic mastermind BT spreads his electronic style all over the original track with a 9 minute Progressive House remix that steers so far from the original you'd be mistaken in thinking this was Jon Davis featuring as a guest vocalist on one of the artists many studio albums. When first released this redux must have been quite a shock to the system as Metal and Dance music would seldom meet in those days, but BT manages to leave his own mark without being too disrespectful to the source material (still it does come across as quite jarring when put against the rest of the release).
Although 'Untouchables' wasn't as well received as Korn's previous records it still managed to give the fans some solid hit singles and 'Here To Stay' is by far one of the firm fan favourites to this day.
