Edited 3 months agoThis is the AP I’ve been most excited about as Morrison Hotel is probably my favourite. Recently picked up this AP version and compared it to my 1970 UK 1st Pressing see release here: https://discogs.cinepelis.org/release/1307461-The-Doors-Morrison-Hotel
And the difference is huge I’m fortunate that my original copy is rather clean with some unfortunate damaging to the sleeve but the sound beat anything I’d ever heard until I got this Analogue productions version… My Analogue productions copy his unfortunately arrived with warping and jumps right before the music starts on both sides of disc 1 fortunately it doesn’t affect the music but rather frustrating so I’m onto Acoustic sounds for that. Replacements are being sorted.
As for the comparison The original has a nice controlled dynamics and a good sound these are hard to find in nice condition… the AP however completely blows it out of the water I personally feel the 2x45 treatment was not needed for all of The Doors catalog as apart from L.A Woman the rest of their studio albums run at a fairly average duration if not short.
But now owning all 6 of the Analogue Productions I can see why they did it except from the self titled I’ll talk about my opinion on that on the other review I intend to do.. back to the Morrison Hotel the Bass is much more present and with them being on 2x45rpm records which are extremely heavy by the way they are cut considerably hotter which means when was comparing I had to turn up my original about 5 decibels when comparing… apart from that there’s no comparison I love my original but this pressing will see a lot more play than my original now.
Pros: fantastic Bass, The Instrument Separation & Soundstage are vastly improved, best sounding version I’ve heard to date, Cheap in comparison to clean originals, easy to get if you live in America (They’re not for me because I live in the UK)
Cons: Sleeve Reproduction this is being really harsh but there’s cons to everything I’m not fond of the way they’ve done the sleeve the glossy cover makes it look odd in my opinion and the pictures appear lower quality than the original however the thickness and weight of the jacket is nice, I’ve unfortunately had a few issues with AP with regards to the self titled album they’re very reluctant to send out replacements and it takes ages so hopefully not with this one. I would agree everything AP say on the ads except the quality control as I’ve had a few issues but I think all in all it’s just my luck.
I can guarantee you’ll be pleased if you buy this pressing.

Compared this to my Allentown first pressing. I like the original more, it's more cohesive and has a stronger presentation. And you don't have to get up four times to flip it. And the sleeve is a nicer matte while this one is glossy. Where this AP release shines is with greater separation.

Edited 10 months agoOnly flaw with all these AP Doors pressings is the god damn seam splits upon opening. Fast or slow it always occurs and some are split before I even rip the plastic off the top! Sucks to see rips down the middle of this cool gatefold photo of the band >:(((
I'm amazed the jacket shown in the photos here is intact. -
I think this is a unanimous opinion. This version sounds amazing. Huge bass. No distortion. All instruments clear. Clean vinyl. A joy to listen to.

Burn all your other pressings, this one is the one to get! Waiting For The Sun sounds beyond words amazing, get it before it sells out!

I've got 5 of these AP Doors reissues now. And all I can say is the sound on this is CRUSHING! Seriously amazing. Waiting for the Sun!!!!! ☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️

I've never played a record as loud as I have with this one! Truly amazing!! Definitely worth the money.

I own most of the Doors AP titles and this one is hands down one of the best. Definitely up there with L.A. Woman in of separation between the instruments and overall dynamic flare. The music just pours out of the speakers into your ears, pure bliss, 5/5.
-
Probably my favorite from the AP Set, Waiting for the Sun sounds extreme on this pressing, you get so sunken into the music you feel like you were there in 1970. Definitely up there in my top 5 best sounding records in my collection.

Edited 3 years agoThis is up there with the best sounding records I've ever heard. Just sublime on every level. Worth every cent.
