Can someone tell, if this record is worth the money. There are numerous represses and still the prises are arround 100$

One day they'll repress an adequate number of these. Maybe.

Possibly one of my old time favourite metal albums. It's such a great release because for it's time it was quite a ground breaker, yet it it was such an unknown compared to fellow Norwegian masterpieces like 'In the Nightside eclipse'
What I like about this is it's almost avantgarde quality yet it's an album that is raw black metal, a genre that isn't really known for it's experimentation and orginality.

What makes this avantgarde is the song structures and variety. It's folk black metal, with heaps of raw and rustic quality. Clearly inspired by Nordic folklore of misty forests, archiac beliefs and stories or netherworlds and fairies.

Going back to the structure of the album,no tracks are the same.
The first track is a midpaced plodding track driven by double bass drums for 80% of it,and clearly sung vocals in Norwegian.

The second track puts the foot on the gas pedal and blasts along at a rapid rate, alternating between fast harsh raw black metal and aggressive vocals, and then mellow slower verses with flutes and clear singing and acoustic guitars.

Third track starts off with acoustic guitars and then launches into a frenzied icy cold black metal vocals, and shredding guitars and driven bass lines the sound of cracks of thunder, this fast first half slowly fades out to be replaced by a dark acoustic guitar section, which in turns fades out to the sound of someone running through a forest. In the back ground a dark echoey piano piece is being played. It's almost a piece of music to a pursuit through a forest. It suddenly then blasts straight into icey cold black metal again with the usual aggressive black metal vocals this to time over top of some choral singing.

The fourth track is entirely acoustic. Again a dark piece, with chanting, and whispers being heard in the distance.I use the word distance because this whole album sounds like it is played in a forest.

The fifth and last track is acombination of fast raw black metal again, but with a nice long acoustic mid section and then back to a more melodic black metal ending with clear vocals The whole album is capped off with an acoustic guitar verse that feels like a seperate track.
Listening to this is like sitting in a forest. You get a real sense of the elements and environment of the Nordic countryside and it's folklore. The dry rough fast black metal in this album and represents the face shredding cold which is aided by it's production. The tom drums are thunderous like a rumble of thunder through the mountain valleys and the acoustic guitars and chantings are dark. Theres a real sense of depth to this. Essential for those with an interest in the darker side of folklore.
