some great sonic touches, I can just imagine Lydon, Levene & Wobble working the mixing desk like Lee Perry.
It's great we finally have this
some of the drums are very definitely Jim Walker, some are definitely Dave Humphries , others will be fun to unpick
it seems to be the original vocals retained
Low Life has a fresh coat of paint and another layer of guitar. what about those drums through? could the badly recorded original drum track really be remixed into this or was it overdubbed with a new drum track?

found a copy of the fab RSD alternate mixes album just after record store day weekend at the right price, as two days after it was released, it was retailing at silly prices on here and elsewhere. For me, it's a rediscovery of this album on vinyl as I was bought it for my 27th birthday. The alternative mixes certainly pack a punch, particularly Annalisa and the lowlife retake (the latter ends with a distorted noise which made me think the record was jumping!), a must-have for any early PiL fan. I hope next year they do the same with the Second issue as their is still some alternative demo/mixes of that album hovering about.

i think the last instrumental part of Annalisa is their version of Erik Satie. PIL in their early French, early 20th-century mood.

Jah Wobble on Annalisa here just slays. Hilarious that ‘Punk’ is 1977-1978 and ‘post punk’ counts as 1979 to present. This album is a well head to so much that followed. Solid sounding pressing on heavy vinyl, happy to have this and the recent LITA version.

Just listened to this record and i think this should be moved to make an individual release by P.I.L. and not a variant of the normal 1. LP.
Sure it is from the same basic tapes, but elsewhere the "Demo-LP" or the "Remix-after 40 years-LP" get a solitair place within discogs.
Annalisa is a totally different song after 2 Minutes, Religion is missing cause biggot 1979 America could not cope with the lyrics, just like today, i guess. All the other songs are audably different, some more, some just faintly. Even the cover uses another picture of John, something you only realize at the second glance.
            Nice item!

Awesome pressing. Sounds amazing, no issues at all with it. Only complaint on the US release they don't have Religion. Probably the best song(s) off the album. Great to get a pressing of this album tho.

Can anyone shed any light on the instrumental section tagged onto Annalisa on the US mixed version released in 2025? I've looked everywhere and nobody seems to have mentioned it but to me it's like a completely new track, bearing no resemblance to Annalisa. I really like it

So, if I'm not mistaken Religion 1 and 2 have disappeared from this release....
                  Makes one ponder, doesn't it?

This is a great release and yes these mixes/rerecords sound different to the original LP - Annalisa in particular is a stand out - Wobbles bass is way up in the mix whilst Levene’s cut shard guitar shapes are very upfront too - recommended to all PIL fans (especially those old schoolers!).

Adore Public Image (AKA first Issue) and have a decent mid price Virgin copy. I picked this up on RSD and enjoyed it on a first listen. Sound is decent - not clicks or pops. The mix isn't as amazing as the normal version, but worth having. I like Death Disco mix which sounds different to that on Metal Box. Pretty cool to have
