My copy is flat and sounds fantastic. I have none of the issues noted below. If you are looking for a copy of this record on vinyl take a chance with this pressing.

Well my MRP pressing is warped to f**k, I mean off the charts edge and dish-warped. 100% unacceptable by any standards. Also background is much noisier than my original pressing without having given it a clean. Cleaning a new record should be done before it's ever put in the jacket- if your manufacturing process makes dirty vinyl you should f**king clean it before it goes out the door!! And stop making the shrink wrap so damn tight it warps the records!

Anyone A/B this with the 2011 release? The 2011 was mastered by Stan Getz and this one is credited with being mastered by Howie Weinberg. Thanks in advance!!! :)

I have been skeptical of the onslaught of colored vinyl releases over the last few years (and truthfully, for about the last 50 years!), and this was no exception. I was hesitant because of the swirly color, and I am very cautious with the 'Pumpkins. i didn't have an original copy because I am leery of these guys-so two strikes already. Still, I have been fascinated with this album since its release, I do own a copy on CD, and was thrilled to see this reissue.
Not disappointed in the least! Nice looking discs, and they sound great to me. Even and full. I had to help with a bit of volume, but it sounds pretty solid and even better up loud. Whatever Vig and Corgan did while recording this they were absolute magic.
No original to compare to, but happy that after all this time I now own a hard copy. -
This is the third vinyl release in just a couple months from MRP that I've received without any issues! Hopefully they've turned a corner where quality control is concerned. This is a good thing because I imagine the tariff situation will result in US vinyl consumers seeing much more of their vinyl coming from MRP. Up until recently, more than 90% of my MRP pressings had problems ranging from bad to unlistenable. Not the case here or with the recent Pink Floyd Pompeii release.
Regarding the master quality, the OG 1993 press still reigns supreme. This reissue sounds very subdued by comparison. My understanding is that it uses the same master as the 2011 remaster. Don't get me wrong... the 2011 (and this 2025) still sound great in a vacuum but, once you've heard the original, the reissues just pale in comparison. The OG is crunchy, fuzzy, psych-rock goodness from start to finish. Billy's vocals are quite buried on the reissues and the high end is lacking. The OG is far more dynamic.
Still a cool reissue and, if you don't already own this masterpiece, this is a good option especially considering it utilizes the original album artwork. Meanwhile, the 2011 used a fancy updated color scheme on foil material. As a purist, the original artwork is the way to go. -

I'm done buying any Smashing Pumpkins vinyl. Every single re-press sounds like crap.
I use a Pro-Ject vacuum record cleaner and all of them are so noisy! I returned the RSD
copy of Siamese Dream to Turntable Lab for a refund. I'm done paying $45 for vinyl that is
pressed poorly with no quality control. I was quite bummed because otherwise it sounded
great. -
Edited 22 days agoConfirming the surface noise on Hummer. Not even a wet clean could salvage that. Second record is also warped pretty bad. Poor quality control with this release
-
This is just about the most handsome piece of vinyl ever discovered on planet earth. It is sexy - transparent red with black smoke swirls. Mostly sounds dead terrific except for a few places where things get real quiet, esp Soma as mentioned below. But as the crackles are almost expected after forking out a fortune for new vinyl, this is a real keeper !
-
Massive pressing defect of about 2” parallel with grooves of missed infill and craters on Side A Track 4 during Hummer that plays out as “static” for about one minute. Super disappointing. Still giving it two stars because the rest of it sounds decent. The defect is in a dark swirl and I’m guessing it wouldn’t be there if this was a solid color or traditional black.
