I'm so happy with this record! I've been waiting to find an OG copy in the wild or have the spare cash to shell out on here, but I grabbed this today at target and figured at least I'll have A copy, if not a GOOD copy. And wouldn't you know it, it's actually a GREAT copy! Sounds amazing.
And I have to say it, but the content of these songs is as relevant now as it was 35 years ago. Which is kind of sad, but listening to it still makes you feel hopeful anyway -
In a word -- brilliant! This is an incredible sounding record. The pressing is very quiet. The audio fidelity is dynamic, open, lush and natural. The instruments and vocals are detailed delivering tremendous clarity in the highs and mids while the bass is rich and fat. And of course, the music speaks for itself. Highly recommended!

Edited 7 days agoNot as warm or as punchy as the original still enjoyable however. No poly inner sleeve???

Maybe I am in minority, compare to my mint 1st Canadian copy, this one is slightly less open and slightly more noisier (ticks and pops here and there) but vocal is bit darker and more meaty, OG copy is bit brighter and thinner sounding.

Incredible sounding hot-wax, so much clarity, space & punchy dynamics to the soundstage, wow...
Vinyl itself on my copy is dead-silent. -
Yeah, they nailed it. Wow! Beautiful record and mastering! So nice to have a clean copy. Silent vinyl too!

Edited 25 days agoSweet sounding pressing, full, rich, punchy, beautiful sound. Both voice and music sounding fantastic - awesome mix. Pleasantly surprised by the great bass. Maybe a bit “loud” but it kinda just adds to the pleasure for me. What a debut record this was. ittedly pressing is not silent between tracks but no surprise there as a bit of noise seems standard on these type pressings.

I recently picked up the 35th Anniversary edition of Tracy Chapman’s self-titled debut album on black vinyl from Amoeba Records in Hollywood, and I couldn’t be more pleased with my purchase. This version really brings out the soul of the album in a way that streaming or digital formats just can’t match. If you’re a fan of Tracy Chapman or just love great acoustic music, this 35th Anniversary edition is a must-have. The sound quality is top-notch, and the pressing is excellent. Very happy with this one – it’s a fantastic version of a timeless album.
