Edited 9 months agoPeople who claim all MCA rainbow label releases suck need to hear this one. Outstanding.

Edited 11 months agoHad this since 1980 and it's been ed over alot but today I had to break it out. Dusty and dirty but after a good cleaning I realized I had forgotten this pressing was so amazing. So much depth and volume. I really feel like I am in the studio. This and Aja are just the pinnacle of engineering. So solid and so many epic musicians doing session work.

Guess I’m odd man out. After 2 deep cleanings and numerous superficial cleanings, still lot of snap crackle pops. Noisy pressing for me.

Edited one year agoCompared this Gloversville pressing to my other copy:
https://discogs.cinepelis.org/release/844094-Steely-Dan-Gaucho
I'm favoring Gloversville in the shootout. The bass and percussion seems more forward in the mix. More impactful. The vocals perhaps a bit more recessed, but the splendid separation makes that no issue. Just one man's set of ears and opinion [downs another tequila shot] -

One of the best sounding pressings I own. Only complaint is the noisy MCA vinyl. Most of the time the surface noise is drowned out, but other times it’s annoying. Overall this is great.

Pressing ring is not from Europadisk, which had a 35mm/70mm dual ring. Photos appear to be an MCA pressing with a 25mm pressing ring -- probably using metal parts from Europadisk.
