I've tried and tried to get into this album
I'm sorry, but no remastering, pressing, or remixing can make these songs sound better. Droning, plodding, boring!

Enjoyable. I think the background synth/orchestra on the first two tracks is a bit too loud. The other tracks are great where you pick out a little more of separation. But the cure sound is still great. To be listened to in a darkened room with your favourite whisky. As far as the pressing I took advice and chose the grundman grey vinyl. There was still one pop at tue end of side one which my modern day pressings is pretty good

My first copy had a nasty pressing defect causing very loud repetitive clicking right at the end of side A (curiously this is something I have suffered with a few times before with Pallas pressings). The replacement copy is pretty decent given the amount of music that's been crammed into one disk. When a disk is cut is this quiet the pressing needs to be top notch as any defects will come through loud and clear. While not perfect I'm glad to say that for the most part my (second) copy es muster. They really should have got Bernie to do a 2xLP though!

Edited 5 months agoI was very nervous about buying any pressing of this record given the overall reviews. This pressing sounds utterly fantastic to me and so layered it’s insane. Looks like waiting a while paid off. Lots of thumping lows and clear mids / uppers. My system is a pretty honest one with vintage speakers but presents a record rich in dynamics and separation. Maybe I’m lucky- but I can’t fathom the overall negative reviews of this mastering and pressing. My copy is flat with zero pops or distortion after an ultrasonic clean. Output is not that low but a little more volume is required. What an album too. Amazing. Mine has a huge poster too?? Mint

Edited 5 months agoMy Bioplastic, Grey Marbled 180g from Schallplattenfabrik Pallas GmbH is slightly warped (two small hills, most noticeable on side A).
It has been cut at a very low volume, I have to turn the preamp all the way up to get a decent playback volume.
But the worst part of it is scratch-like damage (a non fill?) towards the end of B3 and unfortunately affecting the beginning of B4.
Sorely disappointed with this lack of quality control. -
Christmas present from the kids. Packaging is excellent, in my opinion. Vinyl is flat and looks great
A thoroughly enjoyable listen. No complaints from me -

I will add to the “this is bloody awful mastering column”, a complete dirge, yes I know it’s The Cure but this is sonically dead. No life, no air, no atmosphere. Such a shame as it’s to my ears the best set of songs since the likes of Wish. Although more in keeping of Faith as a style.

beautiful pressing and beautiful album, didn't expect the mixing here to sound this much better than the streaming version
