Edited 10 years agoAnybody who goes to free parties or are interested in European raves which last for weeks rather than hours would do well to give this album a listen. Spiral Tribe & other crews of that era were true pioneers, creating a rougher style of Techno that would become the backbone of the illegal rave scene in the early to mid nineties.
This album captures some of their biggest tracks, mixed on vinyl by 3 of their main DJs. My personal perference is CD3 by DJ Tal. Constant pounding kicks, tension & release, weird ambiances, this mix really does have it all - It becomes obvious that the producers weren't striving to be catchy or especially popular, they just made tough & no-nonsense rave music, unlike a lot of today's free party scene.
The only downside of this mix is the equalization, far too much mid range on all 3 cds. I recommend playing it through your mixer with some extra bass & the mid turned down a bit.
