Reviews

I'm in agreement with the majority of reviews here. Compared to my WLY copy, this KPG remaster is definitely cleaner and benefits from avoiding most of the IGD that the WLY suffers from.
Though, I get why people love the WLY cut. It's still powerful and lively, but it's hard to find one in good shape these days. This copy is a good way to eliminate all the variables out there, if you can find one around $50 or less. -
Edited one year agoI’ve compared this side by side with a double wly pressing and let me tell this one blows the wly pressing right out of the water arguably the best sounding boston pressing available

For the first time since I upgraded from a Sumiko Blackbird to a Starling, I listened to this and it absolutely rocks, with great bass, and nice separation of instruments. It’s mostly a perfect pressing, really fantastic, but it has some noise in places, usually at the beginning of songs, but very limited in duration: long stretches are perfect, with sporadic noise, then nothing.
The Starling really can dig out details in the bass you’ve never heard before and this pressing has them. Wow. -
I'm with the majority of the people here, I think this is a wonderful and well done remaster of a classic album by none other than Kevin Gray, and it is the farthest thing from flat, or dull on my system. It also compares favorably with my old AZ/WLY pressing, though both are great pressings. This one feels a bit cleaner and more separated than the original, also, "Long Time" and "Let Me Take You Home Tonight" also don't suffer from IGD the way they do on the originals I've seen. (not sure if they're just worn, but those two tracks start to distort heavily towards the very end of each side) Absolutely recommendable if you can find it at a somewhat decent price. The only complaints are that the cover is a washed out reproduction job.

I guess I'll go against the grain and say that I was not impressed at all by this pressing. Sold it and now have my OG double Wally which to my ears is still the best available version.

Been almost six months since some said, “This is an amazing remaster of an amazing record!” So I thought I’d say so once again. Wow!

Rediscovered this record in my collection with delight that it is the outstanding Friday Music reissue. One of the best Friday Music reissues I know. Highly recommended if you are a fan.

Edited 5 years agoI purchased the translucent gold audiophile copy. I don’t usually buy colored vinyl for various reasons but the reviews were mainly excellent. The whole album front to back was absolutely perfect in my opinion. The translucent gold is very cool and looks really nice. I have a cork / rubber platter on my turntable which really makes it pop. I played this on a Rega Planar 6 Turntable with an MC Ania Cartridge. Using Marantz SR7012 receiver and Martin And Logan Motion 40 Speakers with dual subs Martin And Logan Dynamo 500s. Awesome job. The louder the better ha ha
