😔 And this bears repeating: 15 (as of today) different vinyl variations of the same Charli XCX - Brat album? Seriously?

Of course, most of these are artificially "limited" in one way or another, just to create more hype around something that is actually absolutely nothing.

And this release here is one of the most grotesque cases I have come across in a long time 🫤.

As any experienced music marketer knows, nothing drives a ionate fan crazier than telling them they can't have it. At least initially, only to then make a fetish object (that's what vinyl has become these days) available after all, but with an ever-increasing markup and price gouging. Special thanks also to all the scalpers for this 😠.

But the core of this problem is the major record labels such as Charli XCX. They are just really awful because they deliberately play on people's baser instincts and thereby inflate the price of records enormously. I wish they would stop alienating their fans and start respecting them again.

To be clear: I am all for capitalism and free market economics, but not like this!

I'm not sure what Charli XCX was trying to accomplish here, but she certainly upset a lot of her fans with another micro-release like this. Just give all your fans what they want at a fair price. Is that too much to ask?

☝️ To all record labels and artists: : fair play is the key to long-term fan loyalty!

goddamn sad half of this edition was purchased by scalpers and not actual fans...

So ridiculous that I was on the site constantly refreshing - I swear they were on the site at like 11:58 -- maybe a minute or two earlier than 12 PM because I just never saw this in stock it was immediately sold out. And for someone on eBay to have 5? What is going on? 5 out of 40? How is that even possible. Really sad that fans can't get what they want, but someone has the audacity to ask 7,000 for a vinyl and a letter in a coke bag.
