Edited 4 months agoLooking for the insert of the original US edition to complete my vinyl. If somebody has it please PM me.

Yep. Repressed and remastered….but , strike 1, part of a set ‘Van Halen Collection 2’, which is all 4 Sammy albums. Strike 2, didn’t fix the track order. Same as original. Extraordinarily disappointing. Hard .

How many did they released of this album. Never knew that the us version didn’t had bach…..on it. Till lately someone from the dutch fanclub told me.

'Balance' remarkably deviates from any other Van Halen album in nearly all . It is the very only one of their repertoire which has a smooth thread of sorrow rippling through the vast majority of the songs. It varies between the tracks whether this gloomy sound does harm to the typical Van Halen sound. So some Van Halen fans could feel estranged by this album while others discover a previously unthinkable, sensible side of Van Halen. The gloom doesn't considerably weaken the vigour of the heavy riffs on some of the tracks. In particular, 'The Seventh Seal' and 'Amsterdam' sound raw in a groovy way without any sense of melancholy. Most interesting of all is that the forementioned melancholy is looming somewhere between intangible eerie mysticism, loneliness and heartache. This could not be unraveled by any lyrics, only by relistening the album in its entirety tens of times in a length of months (for avoiding being influenced too much by anyone's casual moodswings).
My perception of this albums leaves many Van Halen fans with question marks for which I am sorry. In concise, you can be assured by me that this album is one of the softest of their repertoire while it definitely doesn't sound effusively commercial (except the tracks 'I Can't Stop Loving You' and 'Big Fat Money'). About a quarter of the tracks have prevailing uptempo beats which make this album sound both sufficiently fresh and solid. -
Edited 10 years agoBoth here and on online auction sites, people are trying to sell the vinyl version of this record for $150 to $250. The most it's sold for here is $84.00. Seriously, it's just unreasonable the way some try to drive up prices...

Track listing is incorrect as well. Doin time is track 6 and strung out is after Aftershock. Not enough follows strung out making it track 9

Needs to be updated to show correct track listing without Baluchitherium. As it was never on the US Vinyl version.
