Edited 4 months agoBought brand new sealed from Amazon. Both 3 discs of my copy are flat and well centered. Both records are not very thick, but the pressing quality is very very good. Both 3 discs are dead silent. The sound is stellar… SW did it again… I cannot imagine a better sounding version than this to be honest. The mixing is very well done, every instrument sound perfect and as its place. It brings some very good details without sounding too forced and thin. Wow! A no brainer. 5/5

Edited 4 months agoA very nice pressing. Wilson did a good job, but I think I prefer other versions (Kevin Gray and even the OG) as this is a bit heavy in the bottom end and loses some of high end brilliance (the tamborine in Into The Mystic is pretty buried imo). Wish we could get just the remix without all the extras.

Edited 5 months agoBreathtaking. How so much detail can be presented without any loss of warmth is beyond me. And the subtle tweaks that Steven Wilson has made just up my engagement with it. Wow.

Absolutely amazing the sound is fantastic and the versions of some of the songs from the album are really a treat.
Got to be the best available version of this album. -
Beats every other pressing I own handedly, including an OP, Kevin Gray, and the Direct Disk. Steven Wilson is the man.

This is the definitive version of this incredible album. I suggest everyone snag a copy before it’s gone. I am blown away.

Edited one year agoReally great pressing here. Flawless. As for the mix itself, I prefer by first US 1b/1b cut. The remix a little too heavy in the low end, Van’s voice not as present, over all just not as much life and “magic”. The OG is still the undisputed champ IMO. The extras are nice and the remix does give a different enough presentation that it is worth having, even with the 1b/1b on the shelf.
I didn’t compare directly to the KG/SH, which I also have, but the tapes are on their way out on that issue to my ears. I never pull it off the shelf anymore. -
My first copy had a super weird pressing error which muffled the bass and sounded like there was a giant blanket over the sound. Thankfully Rhino was great with a replacement and my second copy is perfect. SILENT vinyl, not even the slightest tick. Fantastic sound. Haven't A/B'd to my Kevin Gray AAA yet, but love what I hear. Alternative cuts are also really nice
