Underworld – Born Slippy

So apparently the story goes that this was originally a b side..... Anyone know that release at all please?

The .Nuxx version is perhaps the most known Underworld song. It was never my favorite, but for .50 cents I couldn't leave it. I was surprised it was quite collectable as I imagened thousands would be pressed. The funny thing was that the seller looked a bit surprised and weird when I fished it out of his budget bin, so he probably knew but he was sporty enough to sell it. I really never had a good listen to the original that has almost nothing in common with the .Nuxx version but its classic Underworld material. Highly energized and emotional.

The original version of Born Slippy is like a dry run (demo) of what would become Pearl's Girl.

Nuxx, extended mix was allways the one for me from when i first started hearing it on JJJ radio station here in Aus back in good old 1996, i didn't really like the re arrangement of the lyrics on some of the other mixes, unlike powerstone with his "sick beats and keyboards" bollocks but hates the lyrics !!!! well fuck that, the lyrics are fuckin brilliant and if anything adds to the atmosphere rather than detracting but what the fuck, each to their own, music is all in the ears of the beholder. For me Born slippy is a prime example of how electronic music doesn't conform to the standard lyrical arrangement of pop music, pop music is based on the verse followed by chorus followed by verse followed by chorus arrangemnent which to me is so fucking boring and unimaginative, where as the lyrical arrangement of a track like born slippy conforms to no lyrical formula, there is no verse and chorus and virtually no repetition, the lyric ends before the track is even half way through and you never ever see this sort of inventive lyrical arrangement in contemporary pop. Born slippy is a 5/5

You know NUXX. Everyone knows NUXX, thanks to Trainspotting. After that, NUXX became just "Born Slippy" in most people's minds. But it isn't. "Born Slippy" is the A-side of this release, and if it has anything at all whatsoever in common with its more famous flipside, I've never been able to work out what. There's no vocal, no pads, same bpm but it feels like a different tempo, completely different vibe... and I always preferred it. Complex breakbeat drum patterns, layer upon layer of synth lines building, building, building, building to a huge crescendo... this is what Underworld should be about: epic progressive emotive synthesis. Not "lager lager lager lager".
