Cybotron Featuring Dillinja – Threshold / Got To

"Got To" is a really great happy track that I often come back to. It's a bit before it's time as it tends to fit in really well with the 1993/4 revival sound that started getting momentum in 2000 from the likes of Total Science and Digital. The elements that work really well is the sharp breakbeat loop, the saxophones, the 1994 like sub bass pattern, but best of all is that beautiful house keyboard sound. Not only is that house keyboard in a nice pattern but the pattern actually changes as the track progresses. That's something that 2000 era tracks didn't even have the balls to do (ex: Total Science "Squash"). I didn't realize this came out in 1996. All this time I thought it was 1999 as like I said, it was so close to the 2000 rave revival sound. There was really nothing being played like this in 1996, it was just one big void of black hole vibes tech step that I never liked. The flipside of "Got To" on the other hand is just that, dark tech step. It's likely everyone bought this record for Threshold.

It was pressed like that, and it sounds fucking wicked regardless. Tell the engineer to get the fuck out of the place when this one drops.

I buyed 2 copies and "Threshold" sounds bad on any audiosystem :(. Can someone confirm that?

Really?!? The first to review one of Dillinja´s top 5?!? Well, no need for too much words, i guess whoever was there since "The Angels Fell" knows the utter impact this choone had on d&b´s futuristic headz :-) Why weren´t tracks like this made when "Blade Runner" came out? 11/5, 6 stars :-)
