saxon released power and the glory in 1983.power and the glory was saxon,s fifth studio album.power and the glory is chock full of classic saxon rockers!!saxon,s long time drummer pete gill left the band before saxon started to record this album.in my opinion saxon,s first six albums or so are the best work of their carreer.however i will qualify that statement by saying i have,nt really heard much of saxon,s post crusader era albums so i,m sure there are some very good moments on much of their albums post crusader.saxon has been making records since 1979 and they just got better and better with each album by the time power and glory came along they already had done such greats as wheels of steel, strong arm of the law,the excellent denim and leather and their first live album the eagle has landed.that being said song for song there is almost nothing you could call filler material on this great album also notable is the fact that saxon toured with iron maiden on this tour imagine that for a double bill!!for me the best cuts are;power and the glory, warrior[which kicks a@@!!]watching the sky,the eagle has landed[about the first moon landing]nightmare, redline, this town rocks and also on this remastered edition is a live version of denim and leather and the outtakes from the power and glory sessions turn out the lights stand up and rock to name a few.i have been a fan of saxon since the early 80,s since denim and leather if you wanted great well written and played melodic power metal saxon is in the top 5 or 10.this album, denim and leather, wheels of steel, the eagle has landed and strong arm of the law would be great starting points for those that are new to saxon.if you,re a long time fan you already know these albums are classics!!play it loud if you get this especially warrior!!!
