    Album Revolution #4:

After "Earth Wind & Fire" took the World by STORM with "That's The Way Of The World", "Columbia Records" was screaming for more...Not having the time to Record a complete album while on tour, "Maurice" & Co decided to tape some of the live shows, and create "Graditude"....

This was the first live album by "Earth, Wind & Fire", and it made me wish that I was there!!!!! That would have been impossible for I was only a mere 4 years old!!! But anyway, what a way to introduce your live shows!!!!! To me no one sounded better live than "Earth Wind & Fire" ("Maze" is the only other group)....

From start to finish, this is a very essential album....

It starts off with an Instrumental Medley of 2 Classics in "Africano" and "Power" (with power being the vocal point)....

Then live versions of "Yearnin' Learnin'" and "Shining Star" are almost as good as the Studio versions...

I told you about the Live version of "Devotion"? Well, here it is, with its perfect crowd interaction..

There was also the Live version of "Reasons", with "Phillip Bailey" just SHOWING OFF (not even fair!!!!!), accompanied by a STUNNING Saxophone performance by "Don Myrick"....

The next 2 Instrumentals are Ultimate Crown Jewels....

"Sun Goddess" (the song they gifted to "Ramsey Lewis") sounds almost better than the original....

"New World Symphony"...Now that one right there I can't even describe to you all...The Music takes you to far out places!!!! I was straight up speechless when I first heard it!!!!

The only issue I have with the live material is "Sing A Message To You"...It is actually part of a Medley with "Kalimba Story"....Seriously, it should had been on here in it's entirety!!!!

After you finish sweating though the live material, then comes the in Studio stuff....

"Sing A Song" (Crown Jewel) is an outright "EWF" Classic...

The "Title Track" and "Celebrate" are "Funk" workouts...

"Sunshine" is the constant staple "Philip Bailey" performance...

Then there is the Ultimate Ultimate Crown Jewel, "Can't Hide Love".....I know that "Creative Source" did it first, but you would think that the group came up with it first...

All in all, this album was a stamp on the fact that the group has made it...It took a little time, but by then, EVERYTHING that "Maurice" & Co. envisioned was coming to .....Like I said, makes you wish you were there!!!!

PS: 7/5/2024.....I know I USUALLY go there, but because this was ALREADY a 2 LP album, I'm not really going to suggest a Re-Issue with extra Tracks...

I say that though, because in 1999, "Sony/Legacy" released a CD Reissue of the album, which included a Medley:

"Live Bonus Medley" (a. "Serpentine Fire", b. "Saturday Night", c. "Can't Hide Love", & d. "Reasons")....

This was ACUTALLY performed on a 1978 TV Variety Special starring "Natalie Cole" on February 11, 1978 at Hollywood Sunset Sound Recorders....So having it here is kind of out of place!!!!!! Now, in my opinion, because "Serpentine Fire" and "Saturday Night" (from the groups next 2 albums, "Spirit" & "All 'N All") was part of the Performance, I would include it on a 2 LP Re-Issue for "All 'N" All".....Just Sayin'.....
