My NM copy of this is pure Awesome. Dead quiet, great sound stage, overall a great copy. this will be my go to copy

I have a near mint copy of this and also disagree with the first review. It is what you would expect from a Japanese pressing, it sounds great with an excellent sound stage. It is my go to copy of this album.

After giving this multiple listens and comparisons to other vinyl of same era, some US pressing and some Japanese, I must differ with previous reviewer. I am unsure if copies vary in quality, if previous reviewer's stylus was worn, or if we just have entirely differing opinions based on same sound waves. I know it may be unhelpful to other buyers considering this version, but I am glad I had not seen previous review prior to picking this up; I may have skipped it and missed out. While this version does seems a little quieter than other period vinyl I have (meaning I have to turn it up slightly to get same output), the quality is right on par with what I expect from a Japanese vinyl from this era, which is typically (in my experience) better than the US version.
For point of reference, I use a Nagaoka MP-110 cartridge and I recently changed the stylus.
For additional information on this version see https://www.rarerecords.net/store/boston-dont-look-back-1978-japan-lp-with-obi/ "While this album was later reissued in Japan as part of their “Mastersound” series, that particular pressing was digitally remastered, this one, which is all analog, is the better-sounding pressing of the two." -
AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE! Regarding this Japanese 1st pressing, it has some of the worst 4K with harmonics noise I have ever heard on an album. Whoever did this was not a pro. This is also a cassette master because of the low frequency noise used as "end of side cue" used in cassette duplication discernible on both sides.
