First listen through after a vacuum cleaning and hitting with Zerostat Milty. Flat with literally s/n. Pressing centered all 4 sides. It's a fun, punchy listen, but lean in agreement to Mutleyhyde 's comment below that "Mids are merely background treatments here for the most part, as opposed to the frontal, equal decibel assault they are on CD" as my only criticism. At neutral and comfortalble listening volume, this was most noticeable on Breathe with the guitar strum fills. Increasing volume (from 8:00ish to 10) opened up mids, as does increasing Mid from 12:00 neutral to 2ish on my receiver (while holding bass and treble to neutral). This is literally the only negative observation for me and it seems to improve album plays through. Lows are mirror-shaking in the best of ways and, again, both records play cleanly during and in-between songs which I really appreciate. I'll hold on to this pressing for when I need to scratch that TFOTL itch. Using an AT VMN40ML with MicroLine stylus that digs deep into grooves to extract the goodness -> Marantz 6300 -> Marantz 2275 -> JBL L112s.

one of the cleanest sounding records i own. the vinyl master is crazy. i do wish the vinyl didn't split firedrill off of the outro of narayan tho :(

Edited one year agoI bought this repress to protect my original 1997 copy from overplaying it.
Not even close compared to the sound quality of the original 1997 pressing.
Continuous crackles on the right channel even after good record cleaning.
Total disappointment.
Though artwork is excellent.

Does anyone has some red spots / swirls in the C and D side of this record?
Overall it is a great pressing, great sound. -

Edited 2 years agoJust great release. The sound is very open, soooo wide, deep and punchy. Great separation of instruments and samples.
There is little to no surface noise - of course as far as you can tell by the silence between tracks :) -
Personally I think the sound quality of the pressing is great, I was lucky to get a copy with none of the forementioned issues. However, what I did notice was the labels for Side A and B are the wrong way round i.e. I read SMBU & Breathe but hear Diesel Power & Funky Shit instead. Does anyone else have this error?.
Agree the packaging could be better and put some extras in to celebrate 25 years of the band more but I am happy overall. -
Edited 2 years agoWarning - do not have your volume up too loud when you drop the needle on the record ! Insane-level soundstage and bass. Epic mastering and QC on this project. As relevant as ever.
