Edited 5 months agoThis record had to grow on me. I’m a diehard Nowhere fan. While Nowhere is still my favourite, I enjoy this record quite a bit now. It has its own place within the Ride discography and I now see it not just as an essential Ride record but also as an essential shoegaze record. For 1992, this was pretty unique as bands like Oasis weren’t on the scene until 1994. Going Blank Again is a record that influenced the Britpop scene of the 90’s. This is shoegaze with an underlying pop sensibility underneath. Dare I say, this is not dissimilar to what the Beatles have done with Revolver and Sgt. Pepper. Though Nowhere is more emotionally potent IMHO, Going Blank Again is an influential record that has stood the test of time and many bands have since followed suit.
As far as this pressing and packaging goes, it’s great. If you can find it for a good price get it before they run out.
Top tracks on this for me are: Leave Them All Behind, Time Machine & OX4. -
Its bloody daft that so many of these great 90s albums get reissued in not enough numbers, then people get surprised when stock dries up and the flippers come a-crawlin’ from under their rocks. The first two Ride albums at least should be in constant print, even if they just send out a couple of hundred every few months, but enough to ensure they’re available to everyone. They are clearly popular records going by the speed they disappear.
Anyway, this sounds wonderful on my system. Technics SL1500c with Ortofon Black, via a Marantz amp and pair of Project Audios
Not too keen on 2 x 45RPMs but rather that than nothing. The colours nice, if nothing else.
These days I prefer this record to Nowhere. Just wish Leave Them All Behind went on for another 5 minutes !

Edited one year agoEhhhh I don’t know about this one. I dropped a whopping $75cad after tax getting this on Amazon (current going rate) and in the end it wasn’t worth keeping. It does sound better than streaming but it’s just a bit muddy and dull sounding and I had to eq the highs up and take the mids down to even things up. For a cheaper price tag this would be alright but $75 is halfway to buying an OG.. which I may do now

Sadly my copy has an audible pressing error on Side D and E. It's even visible inside of the transparent vinyl. Anyone else with that issue?

Quite incredible, fantastic album, fantastic pressing, cool orange which I worry about vs. black but sounds incredible. Listening to twisterella as I type and there are so many layers to the sound

This will get another pressing (as well as Nowhere and 4 EPs) - don't spend big for no reason. Wichita confirmed it will be

Edited 2 years agoIf anyone in the US is still looking for a copy of this, it appears to be back in stock at Turntable Lab at the moment.
