A pretty good pressing. Not as lively as the OG, but it is a newer pressng. Still pretty good, no pops and crackles (did clean it with my VC first) and pretty quiet between tracks.

This is a great pressing. My copy borders on dead silent between tracks. A couple minor pops/clicks/rumbles total per side if I am being extremely nitpicky. Mine is very slightly dish warped, almost not worth even mentioning. The color/splatter looks great. This blows away the 2015 re-issue I had.
I highly recommend this. -

Perfectly fine way to listen to the album. The record itself looks amazing but there is some surface noise.

Edited one year agoI don't have any original vinyl releases of Pavement but I have all those 2015 RTI reissues as well as 2019 BTC box. Among all those, Slanted and Enchanted sounds best to my ears. I can even pick 2015 one as one of those good sounding records. Even though no one look for an audiophile quality from Pavement. that 2015 RTI pressing of this album sounds that great. IMHO the great Kevin Gray couldn't make CRCR sound great as much as Jay Ranos did this to album.
I pick this anniversary edition not expecting much but for a collectability.
It sounds ok. Nothing wrong but nothing special. 2015 RTI pressing sounds superior. 2015 pressing has more details and fits into the "attitude" of this album. that saying I still feel the roughness and rawness of the album from 2015 but this one sounds bit clean and taint the essence of the album.
As I mentioned before this anniversary edition has its own virtue as a special issue with a matching color. SQ isn't bad and PQ is acceptable. Personally the color doesn't look that great :(
btw I don't see any innergrove distortion or something from 2015 RTI unlike one of reviewers mentioned.
the only gripe is to Matador label, please stop messing around with all those metal parts you've already had. Pavement catalog have been reissued and repressed several times lately. but no one knows which metal parts used unless unsealed and checked. Some of those used the different lacquer cut for different sides. Matador should do something better for this anniversary edition other than making a gimmicky color variation. at least Matador could use the 2015 cut and pressed at RTI for anniversary.

Edited 2 years agostrangely, it says "1991" on the labels, while the original album was released in 1992...

Have to agree with all the other reviews here, this is a solid pressing. Nice quiet vinyl, punchy drums, and solid instrument definition. My only gripe is the slight dish warp, but that didn’t effect playback at all. Haven’t heard the 2007 RTI press but I’m more than happy with this reissue.

Did anybody else get a black vinyl instead of the splatter? All matrix and runout are the same as the splatter, but ended up with a black cooy

This was the only Pavement album I've never owned or even heard, CD or vinyl. Not sure why, I think because like so many others, I discovered them with Crooked Rain and I just moved forward.
Based on reviews here I bought this version.
My pressing is flat and centered and sounds pretty good. I assume the original recording was pretty raw and not perfect, but it's definitely the worst sounding in of instrument separation and dynamics of all the Pavement albums I own. It's all just a bit muddled, but the pressing is quiet and I can only assume representats the source well. -
Took three copies to get one that wasn't dish warped. My flat copy still suffers from some substantial surface noise likely from the paper inner sleeve. Sonically sounds great though. 3/5
