That "File 57" is off the charts, haven't listened to that in over 20 years. Just having an Edge records sesh for nostalgia sake, there's some great stuff on the early ones, check them out, #3 is real good.

Edited 8 years agothe sustained diva vocal sample in Spirit is taken from (1985) Tramaine hawkins - fall down (spirit of love) https://discogs.cinepelis.org/Tramaine-Fall-Down-Spirit-Of-Love/release/153649

If the A-side is the obvious crowd mover, I must insist on the fact that the B-side (in fact a two tracks effort, with File 57 first, and then a continuous drift that gathers the 3 last tracks), is a killer : an acid perfect slide that interact superbly with a saxophone, yes, a saxophone! It ends with an ambient last minute that just let's you land quietly after this mind elevating piece of braindance. Really an outstanding one.

'Spirit' is one of the biggest overlooked club records of the last 15 years. Carl Cox hammered it in his house sets and it was an enormous anthem on the harder side of the Gay scene in London (Trade/FF etc.) As usual with the Edge (& XVX as well) label the production is faultless and it does exactly what it's meant to... make you dance like a bastard. One of he finest pieces of electronic club music ever made in my opinion!!
