Why on Earth didn't D'Angelo's record label think to put this out as an official remix. It was such a big 12" on the underground scene.

this record, which is amazing, had at least one repress shortly after it dropped and maybe even more since then.

Edited 3 years agoThe legendary GAMM #1 that has Stockholm beat-smith Red Astaire (aka Freddie Cruger) reshaping D'angelo's "Left & Right" into a jazz/rap hybrid and this has been slaying floors left & right since its release. It was proven so successful that Quantic (Will Holland) would do a remake on Rebtuz #4 with his Quantic Soul Orchestra with Alice Russell on vocals.
On the flip, there is a chunky James Brown rework with Freddie Cruger adding some nice cuts as well. Not the most original thing but a great party number nonetheless.
