Quite simply, these are essential recordings for any Dylan fans, covering three decades of home recordings, demo's, alternative takes and songs that, sometimes inexplicably, didn't make the cut. It's not ALL great, and you can see why some of the tunes didn't make the cut, but they'll still be interesting to Dylanphiles. That said, there are some really beautiful gems in here that make you question the original track selection: "Moonshiner" is one of the best examples of Dylan's singing ability, "Last Thoughts On Woodie Guthrie" should have been made into a song, "Seven Curses" is beautiful, "I Shall Be Released" is better than anything released on the Basement Tapes and "Blind Willie McTell" is easily the best song he recorded in the whole of the 80's.
