Ich nenne jetzt mal alle Musikstile, die ich auf dieser Platte bemerkt habe: Blues, Folk, Soul, HipHop, Country, Pop, Rock und Disco. Diese alle zusammen gemischt ist gleich Eins, nämlich Beck. Nachdem seine letzte Platte "Mutations" zu country-lastig ausgefallen ist, ist er jetzt wieder voll da, und mir gefällt es. Besonders zu loben ist diesmal die Backgroundband, da diese Platte angeblich ohne Sampler aufgenommen wurde. Alle Achtung, denn "Get real paid", "Hollywood freaks" und "Milk & honey" hören sich unter dieser Voraussetzung noch besser an. Es gibt hier auch wieder Ohrkracher wie "Sexx laws", genauso wie einfach schöne Lieder die durch Beck eben schräg klingen ("Peaches & cream"). Ein relativ ruhiges Stück ist mit "Beautiful way" auch enthalten. Total begeistert bin ich von "Debra", da Beck dort seine Stimme Prince-artig hochschraubt. Schräg, aber eben schön. Nur der Hidden-Track hätte nicht sein gebraucht, wobei der Begriff Hidden-Track hier wieder zutrifft, denn dieser Krach t nicht auf diese CD.
