Edited one month agoIf you are not familiar with how perfectly terrible the production on the album is, you may want to check that out before purchasing. I’ve heard rehearsal demos that sound better. BUT, it is Venom’s Welcome To Hell and it is glorious!
Bottom end on this version is a tad bloated, but sounds ‘great’ when turned up (or perhaps ‘accurate’ is a better term). Pressing was flat, has quite a bit of surface noise, but I haven’t given it a wet clean yet.
Venom was a huge part of my first year in high school. I took a lot of flack for liking them from metal-heads and non metal-heads alike. So, I am absolutely thrilled to finally have this on vinyl 40 years later. Packaging beats my old Banzai tape. -
I was unexpectedly lucky to have a copy with no big issues like usually with crappy GZ pressings. Dead silent vinyl with only a slight little warp. Volume level is maybe a tad low. Cool reissue.

Perfection all around.... crank it up!!!! Metal ten fold. Seriously - this pressing is beautiful and the music sounds as ugly as it should!!!! Get this!!!

sounds as it should, you may enjoy scooping the treble slightly or if you like it super raw leave it as is,

Might have been lucky, my copy i picked up at a record shop in Norway was flat and fine. Sounds just as expected: raw, heavy and like Venom! A bit of surface noise, which gets drowned out mentally by turning up the volume :)

I get a kick out of people complaining about the noise. It's Venom people! "Extreme" metal from 1981. We're not talking about a Miles Davis Kind of Blue pressed from original master tapes on UHQR vinyl. This is the type of music best cranked up and just having a blast. The "noise" gets drowned out quickly. Hell my copy is pretty quiet considering. Makes me wonder what equipment is being use by others. (just trying to rile people up)

Regardless if the original master is super lo fi there's no excuse to repress using Czech GZ. The original album didn't come warped, full of surface noice and skips. Pity since the gatefold is nice.

Valid pressing. Sounds good, no issues with it. Can't really expect quality because its RAW SPEED METAL! \m/
