My favorite Queen album - but sadly there is no real great sounding version available. This album would deserve a remix.
I have 3 CD-versions, the Japanese TO 67342, the Hollywood remaster and the 2011 remaster. This japanese one offers a beautiful replica of the original Vinyl cover. The sound comes close to the original vinyl and is clearer than the Hollywood CD version. The 2011 Master has a bit more compression but is less clear than this japanese release. So I go for this japanese one and hope that "some day one day" Mr. May decides, that this groundbreaking album needs a box-set treatment with a new stereo mix plus surround. -
Edited 3 years agoJust playing this one. Track 5 started and is very defined. The drums is dynamic and I can hear them "sing".
Sorry but actually I could not disagree more.
Next track just opened, and both micro and macro dynamic is where it should be !
Voice and guitar is clear while drums and bass does not drown the rest.
Track 7 is on - I would say Roy Tomas A
Baker & Queen just nailed this one.
PS : The piano at the end, bass and Freddies voice is rigth up there again with Mays guitar.
What an album !!!!!!!
I have Variant 2 -
