Edited one year agoBought new in Calgary at The Record Store. This edition requires significant volume before it begins to blossom. -
this is an amazing sounding original 1990 original master recording 24 k gold cd edition!!! this disc was printed in japan back in 1990, the inlay replicates the original tri fold out sleeve lp version fantastic w/ lyrics artwork & all!!!! this is one of the BEST sounding versions of tommy i have ever heard!!!!! fantastic sound, also some of rogers vocals come in like I HAVE NEVER HEARD THEM SOUND before on certain tracks from this classic rock opera!!!!!! amazing cd set.....

Favorite version, vinyl included. In fact this one has my regularly checking to see that I'm not playing an LP. Fabulous sound - rich, detailed, organic, dynamic, well-balanced. Yes, it does have the alternative, lower-pitched vocal of "Eyesight..." - which is fine by me. My other go-to copy is this Track Record vinyl pressing (https://discogs.cinepelis.org/fr/release/7313997-The-Who-Tommy) : sounds great, but thinner in the bass region vs the MFSL CD.
