Notes
The first installment of LP On LP is the “Ruby Waves” performed by Phish on July 14, 2019, at Alpine Valley in East Troy, Wisconsin. The 38-minute “Ruby Waves” was part of an instant classic show and the longest song Phish had played since 2003. The performance was recorded by Garry Brown and the vinyl release was mixed by Elliot Scheiner from the multitrack masters.

My copy came with the front and back covers reversed. Not sure if it’s a misprint for the whole run?
-
Kind of meh, sonically, but, boy, does the jam get going, and IT is delivered at various points. A nice listen if you have a spare 40 minutes or so.

Clean and clear, no scratches. Keep them coming boys! Love the color of the vinyl, and it sounds so warm.
-
Arrived with a scratch that looks like it's as deep as the writing in the runout groove, for the first 2-3 min of side 2.
-
My copy showed up badly warped with a pretty big seam split across the top. Needless to say, I was pretty disappointed.
-
Pressed at GZ, which can be hit or miss. A clear hit in this case. Cut by Chris Bellman and sounds gorgeous. Rich, full and very punchy. Really surprised how great this sounds.

Edited 3 years agoComes in a black paper sleeve and simple jacket. Overall, the record sounds pretty good (mastered by Bellman at Grundman mastering). Not sure where this was pressed (maybe GZ?), but my copy is flat and pressed on-center. It plays clean without surface noise. Ruby Waves fades in from the previous track from the live show, and the split between sides is well-timed. Side A ends before the slow, reggae-ish breakdown. Side B fades in with the next "movement."
Looking forward to the rest of the series.
