For 20 bucks I would definitely recommend this press. It is flat, no surface noise and very very loud. As it should be. With that said, the OG of this wasn't anything to write home about, and this album is far from perfect. It is bass heavy to the point that the vocals and guitars are sitting too far behind. That may work on other artists, but man, on Maiden? Decent separation on some songs, but all in all it's just pure madness blasted right down your throat. And that's is not a bad thing. It is a good press, but nowhere near a great one.

Solid pressing with minimal noise. Side 2 was particularly noisy on my copy *right* before the music, before swiftly becoming dead quiet.
Amazing album, solid pressing. -
So my copy is a bit weird: there is a substantial amount of noise on the lead in groove that continues into the very beginning of the first song and then disappears..this happens on both sides..also the sonics on side 1 start out sounding very thin and small, but about halfway through Children of the Damned the soundstage really opens up and the sound is full and balanced and very good for the rest of the album..overall it's a much better listen than the 2014 pressing, but I'd still think it could be better..the disc is thick and flat with a very square edge, no taper at all

Epic pressing I've owned multiples of this album...
This pressing is the only one worthy tbh, great bottom end with powerful mids clear highs...
Flat yes it's cut hot and so it should be cut by the one and only Chris Bellman CB in the deadwax also mentioned this was his habdy work.
Boy Chris gas nail this bitch hard smashing it out of the park 10/10 mastered and eq is magnificent 👌 -
I purchased this in the store at Walmart. I am very impressed with the quality of the pressing. Quiet sound floor, good full sound. I wouldn’t call it the “best” but it’s pretty damn good. I would pick this over the other copy/repress - I had them both and side/side comparison this one wins.

Edited 3 years agoGreat master, poor pressing. Lots of surface noise. Skips about 5 places through out both sides.Lots of pitting on both sides. (VPI machined cleaned, VPI turntable, Soundsmith Cartridge). Returning!!

Cover image: 4/5, it’s got the color but seems slightly blurry. Still worthy.
Vinyl Quality: 5/5, this vinyl falls between dead quiet and slight surface noise. For $19.99, this is high grade vinyl. The 180g thickness is there, and there was no warping whatsoever.
Mix/Master: 2/5, Chris Bellman or God couldn’t save this one. The 50-200 Hz range is muddy, the vocals are somewhat muted and panned hard left and right, no sitting in the middle of the stereo field. Nothing notable about the guitars, but they are the best sounding instrument on this remaster. The drums get muddied by the low frequency slug fest.
The record is certainly worth $19.99, and is enjoyable nonetheless, but don’t A/B it with an older, better mix, as it will become apparent just how deficient the mix master is.
Find an 80s pressing, or at least switch to the 2014 Parlophone EU/UK remaster and just deal with the low normalization and lack of sonic rawness the very first pressings had. -
